BFO Circuit

BFO Diagram

The BFO circuit is a simple Hartley oscillator using a 455kHz IF can. The type of 455kHz IF coil is not critical. Output is delivered to a RF mosfet amplifier. On the RF mosfet amplifier, the bias to G2 can be varied by changing the 100K resister from ground to G2 with a variable resister. By doing this you can vary the injection voltage to the product detector for the best receiving conditions.

By lowering the injection value, you can sometimes make strong signals unreadable, allowing the weaker ones to come through.
