Additions to Pampa

The plat for the original town of Pampa, consisting of 38 blocks, was filed on April 14, 1902.  (See Museum Mementoes for Jan. 8, 1990.)

South Side Addition (Blocks 1-16) was the first addition to the original town of Pampa.  The plat was filed on Jan. 11, 1907.

Ten Acre Addition (Blocks 58 and 59) and Cuyler Addition (Blocks 56 and 57) were formed from the suburbs of Pampa.  The plat for Ten Acre Addition was filed on May 16, 1925.  The plat for Cuyler Addition was filed on Aug. 21, 1926.

Tyng, the first avenue south of the Santa Fe Railroad, was named for George Tyng, first manager of White Deeer Lands, who named the town for the pampas of the Argentine.

Craven was named for William M. Craven, manager of the Shoenail Outfit owned by Swift and Company.

Brown was named for Montagu Kingsmill Brown, co-manager with C.P. Buckler, of the White Deer Land Company.

Barnes was the maiden name of M.K. Brown's wife, Josye Lucille.

Tuke was an official in the New York office of the White Deer Land Company.

Gray, Somerville, Russell, Cuyler, Ballard, Gillespie, Houston and Starkweather were extended --- first to Brown and later to Tuke.
